From 18 till 21 November 2025, Brno University of Technology was proud to host the first debriefing workshop of  the 1st year (dry run campaign) of the European Defence Fund’s Agile and robust human language technologies for defence technological challenge (HLT). EDF funded project “ARCHER – Advancing Robust and Creative Human language technologies through CHallenge Events and Research” is the Organiser of the HLT technological challenge; the coordinator is Airbus Defence and Brno University of Technology is responsible for automatic speech recognition and optical character recognition baseline systems. In Brno, we were however meeting also with the participating teams of the HLT technological challenge building the actual speech, natural language processing and optical character recognition demonstrators: NEMO (“laNguagE Modules develOpment”, coordinated by SINTEF), ATLAS (“AI-based Natural Language Processing of Low-Quality and  Multilingual Data in Defence Applications with User Adaptation”, coordinated by Aalborg University),  and LINGUARISE-DC (“Language Innovations: Nimble, Guided, User-friendly, Agile and Robust Solutions Eliminating Defence Challenges”, coordinated by Satways). It was a pleasure to see so many excellent speech and natural language processing people in Brno!
